With Incogniti sentieri, La Quintina invites to take a step off the beaten track and onto unusual, poetic paths. This recording brings to light for the first time the three-part sacred music of Paolo Fonghetti (1572–c.1530), published in Verona in 1595. Although now forgotten, the talent of this late Renaissance Italian musician had, in his day, earned the admiration of his contemporaries. In 1621, the poet Francesco Belli wrote a sonnet in honour of the Veronese composer, the final lines of which are full of praise : Your work, which reveals your great worth, brings forth harmony and life.
